SH, who was apprehended by the police on January 6 together with KM, another Iraqi asylum seeker freed Thursday, is still being held at the Metsälä detention camp. SH is being held together with AM, another Iraqi asylum.
AM opened a new case on Monday and that has apparently stopped deportation proceedings to Iraq, according to him.
“I don’t know why I haven’t been freed yet,” he said by phone Tuesday morning. “The lawyer said that it is a question of time [when I’ll be released from here].”
Migrant Tales will follow SH’s and AM’s case. We hope that they will be released from detention as soon as possible.
