Three “let them drown” MEPs were elected from Finland on Sunday

Posted on May 27, 2019 by Migrant Tales

The European elections on Sunday elected 13 MEPs from Finland. Three of them were Migrant Tales “let them drown” Euro candidates.

Did you know that 36.3% of Finnish MEP candidates who answered (85/234)  Alma Media’s election compass stated that they either “strongly disagree,” “disagree” or are “neutral” (have no opinion) about the following claim: “Is it the obligation of the EU to save all those migrants who attempt to come to Europe and who are at risk of drowning in the Mediterranean?”

In plain English, it means that these MEP candidates below don’t mind if people drown, or had no opinion if humans drown in the Mediterranean.

Shameful and cowardly.

All those newly elected MEP that “strongly disagree” that it is the EU’s obligation to save migrants from drowning in the Mediterranean were from the Perussuomalaiset* party.

Henna Virkkunen of the National Coalition Party “disagreed” that the EU should save people from drowning in the Mediterranean.

Migrant Tales would like to dedicate the following video to Hakkarainen, Huhtasaari, and Virkkunen:

* The Perussuomalaiset (PS) party imploded on June 13, 2017, into two factions, the PS and New Alternative, which is now called Blue Reform. In the last parliamentary election, Blue Reform was wiped off the Finnish political map when they saw their numbers in parliament plummet from 18 MPs to none. A direct translation of Perussuomalaiset in English would be something like “basic” or “fundamental Finn.” Official translations of the Finnish name of the party, such as Finns Party or True Finns, promote in our opinion nativist nationalism and racism. We, therefore, at Migrant Tales prefer to use in our postings the Finnish name of the party once and after that the acronym PS.

Kolme “anna hukkua” -eurokansanedustajaa valittiin Suomesta sunnuntaina

Posted on May 27, 2019 by Migrant Tales

Eurovaalit pidettiin suununtaina ja Suomesta valittiin 13 eurokansanedustajaa. Kolme heistä olivat Migrant Talesin “anna hukkua” -eurovaaliehdokkaita.

One step forward for Islamophobes and two steps back for the Finnish media

Posted on March 19, 2019 by Migrant Tales

Perussuomalaiset (PS)* MP Teuvo Hakkarainen, convicted for ethnic agitation and sexual harassment, is on the roll with the media again. This time, the PS MP has taped on his car anti-immigration slogans like “stop refugee terrorism – out of this country every [asylum seeker] man.”

These type of racist slogans are in special bad taste after what happened in New Zealand, where a white supremacist murdered in cold blood 50 Muslims.

While Hakkarainen is getting free advertisement and laughing all the way to the bank, few if any media is openly condemning this type of Islamophobia. At least not Helsingin Sanomat..

The Helsingin Sanomat article makes no mention about Hakkarainen’s criminal record or even questions his claim that asylum seekers cost Finland 3.2 billion euros a year. Hakkarainen’s source is a tabloid, Iltalehti, of a blogger that belongs to the same party as the PS MP and who is staunchly Islamophobic.

Read the full story (in Finnish) here.

Considering that the PS was in government (2015-2017) and that its chairperson, Jussi Halla-aho played down what happened in New Zealand and that one of its youth leaders condoned what happened by blaming it on “multiculturalism,” it is clear why there is a hostile environment in Finland against Muslims and migrants.

Such type of weak reporting happens a lot because the media somehow agrees with politicians like Hakkarainen.

The media is one clear culprit in Finland’s hostile environment.

PS MP Teuvo Hakkarainen gets convicted for sexual harassment after ethnic agitation. Why is he still a lawmaker?

Posted on June 19, 2018 by Migrant Tales

Disgraced Perussuomalaiset (PS)* MP Teuvo Hakkarainen was convicted by a Helsinki District Court for sexual harassment after he attempted to kiss MP Veera Ruoho by force, according to YLE News. Hakkarainen was convicted last year for ethnic agitation.

The Helsinki District Court ordered Hakkaranen to pay fines amounting to 3,060 euros to the state and 1,400 euros in damages to Ruoho in damages as well as her court costs.

The incident took place at a Christmas Party last year at Parliament when Hakkarainen was intoxicated. He approached Ruoho grabbed her by the neck and forced her to kiss him.

On Tuesday, Helsinki prosecutor Eija Velitski said that she would appeal the decision that Hakkarainen receive a suspended jail sentence.

But on Tuesday Helsinki prosecutor Eija Velitski announced her decision to appeal the case requesting that Hakkarainen also receive a suspended jail sentence. Velitski that in the worst of circumstances, the PS MP could have caused Ruoho’s death.

While the politician saw his day in court, many are wondering why Hakkarainen does not resign as MP or why the PS, which is always blaming migrants for sexual harassment and rape, does not sack him from the party.

Exposing white Finnish privilege #46: Teuvo Hakkarainen = white racism and sexism

Posted on December 20, 2017 by Migrant Tales

Disgraced Perussuomalaiset (PS)* MP Teuvo Hakkarainen, an Islamophobic politician convicted of ethnic agitation, got off with a light slap on the hand from the PS for forcing a fellow MP to kiss him while drunk. But that’s not all. We now know that Hakkarainen grabbed another woman MP by the hair a year ago while drunk.

The hair-pulling incident with Christian Democrat MP Päivi Räsänen was kept under wraps and apparently only known to a few like the speaker of parliament Maria Lohela and Sampo Terho, the former PS parliamentary group leader.

Another former Social Democrat MP, Mikael Junger, told the media this week that Hakkarainen had tried to kiss him without his consent at a party.

How is it possible that a white MP can get away with such aggressive behavior that includes drunkenness and sexual harassment in parliament?

Imagine in London if an MP would have acted like Hakkarainen at the House of Commons? Imagine if a Muslim had done what Hakkarainen did in public?Imagine what kind of a lynching we’d see on social media and in print media?

White Finnish privilege #46

What happened Thursday and the action that the PS took to reprimand Hakkarainen speak volumes about who has privilege in this country.

Finland’s Perussuomalaiset party and its disdain for #metoo and our institutions

Posted on December 19, 2017 by Migrant Tales

Racism and Islamophobia are nothing more than pigheaded ignorance.

What do you do if an Islamophobic MP called Teuvo Hakkarainen gets so drunk in parliament that he picks a fight with other MPs from the rival Blue Reform party by throwing bottles at their meeting? What about if that same MP, convicted for hate speech, grabs a fellow woman MP and forces her to kiss him?

All of this happened on Thursday.

What about if an aid for the PS got so drunk the same day at a Christmas party in parliament that he was carried out and taken to a hospital in an ambulance?

Teuvo Hakkarainen on his first day in parliament in 2011.

What about if the leader of the PS, Jussi Halla-aho, believes that exposing this type of inappropriate behavior is synonymous with “undermining trust” between politicians and the media?

The PS steers further right exposing its shameless Islamophobia, racism, bigotry and ultranationalism

Posted on June 11, 2017 by Migrant Tales

Like rubbing salt on Finland’s wound, Perussuomalaiset (PS)* newly elected chairman Jussi Halla-aho’s far-right anti-immigration policy got reinforcement after three Islamophobes were elected to lead the PS: Laura Huuhtasaari, Teuvo Hakkarainen and Juho Eerola were elected first, second and third vice-president, respectively.

Center Party Prime Minister Juha Sipilä stated Saturday that the election of Halla-aho meant that the PS is a different party when led by former chairman Timo Soini. ”The Perussuomalaiset is a completely new party with new policies now,” Sipilä was quoted as saying Saturday in YLE News.

The new chairman of the PS refusing to resign in 2012 because the sentence handed to him by the Supreme Court on ethnic agitation and breaching the sanctity of religion was “a personal interpretation.” Source: Migrant Tales.

The most interesting issue to watch isn’t what the next move of the newly elected board of the PS will be, but what will be the reaction of the party’s coalition partners, the Center Party and National Coalition Party. Will the PS exit or remain in government?

Will they let Halla-aho and his band of Islamophobes slide and will we see something politically toxic like in Denmark emerging? The PS has always had a semi-secret love affair with the Danish People’s Party (DPP). They have now come as close as ever to being that type of party in Finland.

The DPP thrives as we can see below on Islamophobia and spreading anti-immigration rhetoric in Denmark.

Who’s responsible for the spike in hate crimes in Finland?

Posted on January 14, 2017 by Migrant Tales

National Police Commissioner Seppo Kolehmainen states that there is an upsurge in hate crimes in Finland, according to YLE News. He states that those hate crimes that are reported to the police service are only the tip of the iceberg. Is Kolehmainen being disingenuous? Why doesn’t mention he state clearly that politicians and political parties are polarizing society and emboldening racists?

The national police commissioner states that one of the problems is that victims are reluctant to file a complaint to the police service. And why would they? It takes months, if not a near-eternity, for the police to get in touch with you.

Migrant Tales reported in May a case when a white Finnish woman insulted in a racist manner and threw a bucket of water on a Kenyan woman who lives in Helsinki. Still today the police and the non-discrimination ombudsman have not been in touch with the victim.

The latest sentences for hate speech – all present or former Perussuomalaiset (PS)* politicians – of MP Teuvo Hakkarainen, Tampere city councilor Terhi Kiemunki, Olli Sademies, Sebastian Tynkkynen and many others are an example of where part of the problem originates.

PS’ Teuvo Hakkarainen and Olli Sademies: Ethnic agitation charges and racist bravado

Posted on January 4, 2017 by Migrant Tales

What happens when one present and one former Perussuomalaiset (PS)* politician faces charges for ethnic agitation? Answer: They lie through their teeth and act dumb (which isn’t difficult for such politicians). PS MP Teuvo Hakkarainen got sentenced today for ethnic agitation and will have to pay a fine of 1,160 euros. Olli Sademies, a substitute councilman who retired from the police force, is in court today facing ethnic agitation charges as well.

The court will give its verdict on Sademies’ case on January 13.

Hakkarainen is a good actor. He plays the dumb country boy and starts to making up his own interpretation of events claiming incredibly that he didn’t know that there was a law against hate speech even if he’s a lawmaker.

Moreover, Hakkarainen knows that Finland has a hate crime law because he was one of eleven MPs that wanted to make it redundant tin 2013, according to Jussi Kohonen.

Hakkarainen got charged after he wrote on his Facebook wall in mid-July after the Nice killings: “We’ve got to stop pussyfooting. Muslims out of this country! Not all Muslims are terrorists but all terrorists are Muslims. We shouldn’t accept Muslims from the Middle East and Africa to our country.”

It’s not the first time that the PS MP has made racist statements.

Below is a recording of him on his first day in parliament after he got elected in 2011.

Here are some other stories:

  • Mixed reactions to Hakkarainen’s racist blog entry that victimizes immigrants and Muslims (August 21, 2013)
  • Let’s play fill in the blanks with far-right Finnish MP Teuvo Hakkarainen (August 20, 2013)
  • PS MP Hakkarainen of Finland launches a new attack on immigrants and Muslims (August 19, 2013)
  • PS MP Hakkarainen instigates social media lynch mob from Singapore (August 12, 2012)
  • PS will not take any disciplinary action against MP Teuvo Hakkarainen (August 25, 2011)

Like Hakkarainen, Sademies plays dumb as well.

“I haven’t done anything wrong,” he was quoted as saying in summer by Demokraatti . “What is that ethnic group anyway that I have agitated? Charging me is absurd and it’s a racist opinion.”

Rehellisyyden ja oikeudenmukaisuuden nimessä

Posted on January 4, 2017 by Ana María Gutiérrez Sorainen

Kuten Jussi Korhonen kirjoittaa Seura –lehdessä: ”Hakkarainen ja joukko muita perussuomalaisia allekirjoitti vuonna 2013 tuolloin kansanedustajana toimineen Jussi Halla-ahon ensimmäisenä allekirjoittaman lakialoitteen, jolla lakia pyrittiin rukkaamaan. ”

Kansanedustaja Hakkarainen on saanut tuomion kiihottamisesta kansanryhmää vastaan.
