Remember the cartoon that got some members of the Perussuomalaiset (PS) party so riled that they filed a complaint to the Council for Mass Media in Finland (JSN)? A ruling on the cartoon by Kirkko&Kaupunki, a Helsinki Lutheran Church weekly, will be made by May or June, a JSN official, told Migrant Tales.
JusticeDemon commented about the PS’ complaint to the JSN: “At least the laughable suggestion of “racism against white Finns by immigrants” is quite literally a non-starter at JSN, as this is not the proper forum to decide on such matters. Tältä osin jätetään tutkimatta is the most likely response, perhaps with a suggestion that it is not too late for the f?a?s?c?i?s?t?s? halla-aholaiset to submit any such complaint to the police.”
Public displays like the one above by the PS show the party’s ignorance and contempt for the media and its role in our society. Certainly if the media treats the PS like it did before the election, giving it a field day to spread its prejudices and racism of other groups, the party has no complaints to make.
A Merry Christmas to you all Finnish heterosexuals and conservatives! We wish the rest a shitty Christmas!

Of course you decide to ignore the most important comment.
Lets reverse the situation:
Someone makes a comic out of you Enrique saying “PS voters should be shot!”. Would you be alright with it? When the some internet shitsite made a picture of you. You were crying your eyes out if I remember right.
Yossie, fair enough but I’d avoid one very big mistake: complain to the JSN. And I do think that too many PS followers have no idea how the media works. This case is a clear example. That is why they say and publish the outrageous things they do and then play the role of the victim when the media holds them accountable.
Yossie
You knobjobs are the first to complain about not having free [hate] speech, but then get your shirts in a twist when someone does a little playful teasing of PS….hahahaha.
But are you telling me that there is no place in this society for political satire? Care to tell Eronen and Hirvisaari then?
You know, while several people criticized Eronen, I didn’t see anyone say that it shouldn’t have been published, only that she shouldn’t have written it. Are you smart enough to spot the difference?
Mark
Are you guys any better here?
“You knobjobs are the first to complain about not having free [hate] speech, but then get your shirts in a twist when someone does a little playful teasing of PS….hahahaha.”
When the target is PS, its playful teasing to you. Yet when someone does satire, its an attack against immigrants. Fair enough some PS people were silly to complain about picture. But if we go by your standards of getting upset about everything, then they did nothing wrong.
“But are you telling me that there is no place in this society for political satire”
It was you people who told this was horrible and racist. Yet if PS feels they have been insulted, you just laugh at them for being silly. You seem to have double standards.
Yossie
If there was ever an example of political satire, then this is it! No Nazi uniforms mind, and no references to holocausts or removing people’s rights. Nope, just poking fun at the wonderful feeling that PS generates towards immigrants, expressed as hearty Xmas cheer!
Actually, no one disagreed that Eronen wasn’t using satire – the point of disagreement was that it was in bad taste because of the Nazi links. And like I said, no-one said it shouldn’t have been published. This is altogether different to the hypocritical comments and actions of PS over this cartoon.
It’s not a double standard, Yossie. It’s called a standard. And Eronen’s article fell well below that standard.
This on the other hand is perfectly acceptable. It sums it up beautifully how you lot are moaning the whole time about foreigners. Miserable gits!
Its good and above standard satire that it makes suggestions that PS politicians want to shoot non-white people? Really? I can accept it as a funny thing if it was only what the santa-soini said. Totally different when you start talking about shooting people.
Yossie
SHOCK; HORROR! Where does it say that about shooting non-white people???? I missed that….bloody hell…what where they thinking….this is terrible…oh, hang on a minute, it doesn’t say that, Yossie!
But nice to know that you think it does 😀
Yossie
Actually, one of the characters says ‘[I hope] you get shot’, which is not the same as saying that PS policians want to shoot people.
Bloody hell, Yossie, you’re not much good at this ‘media-studies’ stuff, are you!!!!! 😀 😀
Oh Mark your so clever are you… playing around it and not even trying to understand it.
It wants to make suggestion that PS want to see immigrants dead. Funny? Don’t think so
Thank you!
I agree, that’s not funny. Does it sum up the attitude of the PS or PS supporters? Well, that’s a bloody good question. Let’s see now, was it a PS councillor who was kicked out of the party for ‘publicly’ saying that a Finn who shot two immigrants, killing one, should be given a medal?
I heard a whole scutch of PS supporters standing up for him until Soini finally came out and said his comment was racist. They soon shut up then! Don’t they realise that you cannot say those things publicly?!!!
And tell me Yossie, exactly where will I find the ‘politicians shooting non-white people’? I must say, I did miss that one! 😀 😀
Keep digging Yossie, you’ll be in Australia before you know it!
Hay PS relax relax i dont need ur hateful wish
Hay PS wake up wake up, its twenty first century
Hay PS aware aware, u fall in love with race, with ur face
For ur information PS i will stay in Finland
youhooooooooo PS am not afarid of u
“And tell me Yossie, exactly where will I find the ‘politicians shooting non-white people’? I must say, I did miss that one! 😀 :D”
To me it seems your the one that is “no good in media studies stuff”
Read what the bubble says and its there. Sure its “should get shot”. Anyhow you should get the message what this picture tries to convey.
Yossie
The bubble only says ‘should get shot’, and that is ‘everyone else who is not a Finnish white heterosexual conservative.’ That’s a fairly narrow group of Finns, and I imagine the cartoon was saying ‘shitty’ Xmas to the rest.
So, you can be a Finnish, white, non-heterosexual conversative’ and you still wouldn’t be able to enjoy the PS love-in!
There is an interesting parallel here with the behaviour of certain Facebook contributors when screen captures of their racist and homophobic invective were distributed and discussed by “outsiders”. The outrage (and threats) expressed at the time suggests that this had somehow been understood as a violation of the privacy of these contributors. Indeed some of them said as much at the time.
This outrage indirectly provided some insight into the mindset of those contributors, as the screen captures did indeed reflect what they say when they think they are not being overheard. Something similar has happened with the crypto-fascist BNP in Britain, which evidently cannot arrange open events for its rank and file members because of the political (and indeed criminal) liabilities that arise when these members speak their minds.
The comparable outrage expressed over a satirical Christmas card suggests that a significant element in the peruSSuomalaiset are similarly afraid that their unsavoury private conversations might come to light.
Hi JD.
A commonality with the Dutch PVV party. And within their ranks the ultra right wing of Dutch splinter groups.
Similarity with the Front National in France. National Sozialistiche Partei Deutschland, Legia Norte etc..
