Since 2011, Finland has found a powerful political force in racism. If the country heads down the path of Hungary, it will do so with fearmongering about migrants and how such people abuse and use social welfare at the cost of white Finns.
Even if the Perussuomalaiset (PS)* don’t hide their disdain for migrants and admiration of authoritarian regimes like the one in Hungary, parties like the National Coalition Party are helping to turn the country on its autocratic side.

Human Rights and the present rule of law guaranteed in our constitution are being targeted.
The following red lights are flashing loudly. Prime Minister Orpo can only utter “that the government has a good program.”
Some flashing red lights are:
1. Scapegoating migrants.
2. Disenfranchising migrants and vulnerable groups in Finland.
3. Trying to hit below the belt and, with the Perussuomalaiset, turn Finland into a Nordic backwoods country like Hungary.
4. The Finnish media has a lot to blame for what is happening: Every day there is some negative news about migrants at the border.
5. Talking in such a lowly manner has an impact on all migrants in Finland.
6. Some analysis of the Finnish-Russian border crisis looks more like stenography journalism coupled with wishful thinking.
7. The government and media state that the closing of the border has nothing to do with asylum seekers. Lies! More lies!
8. The closing of the border is meant for domestic consumption.
9. The government will embark on a very unpopular austerity plan that will force it to suffer at the polls.
10. The Finnish-Russian border crisis is a good distraction and political picker-upper.
11. Orpo’s government is pulling the wool over your eyes.
12. If you believe in his words then you must believe in Santa Claus. That’s fine, I suspect, Christmas is around the corner.
