Jyväskylä may turn into another blow to Finland’s Counterjihadist -anti-immigration hardliners

If the Counterjihadist-anti-immigration tide turned in Finland and the Nordic region after 22/7, when Anders Breivik went on the rampage killing 77 innocent people, the attack in Jyväskylä on Wednesday by suspected far-right thugs could be a serious blow to anti-immigration and far right groups in Finland. 

Whenever hatred metamorphoses into violence, like in the case of Breivik, and now the attack on the event in Jyväskylä, people get scared  and think twice before jumping on the hate bandwagon again.

It’s like picking and bullying somebody in a group. It may seem “fun” at first but when it turns messy that’s when people start regretting what they did.

Since politicians who built their popularity on racism and intolerance are the worst opportunists, it’s clear that they will play down what happened in Norway, as Jussi Halla-aho and James Hirvisaari did, and as Juho Eerola now does with Jyväskylä.

Eerola not only told the suspected neo-Nazis in Jyväskylä how to crash the next book event, but that the organizers had staged what happened in order to sell more books.

Halla-aho, Hirvisaari and Eerola are Perussuomalaiset (PS) MPs who have built their political careers by spreading hatred and intolerance of immigrants. All three are or have been members of the extremist href=”http://www.migranttales.net/supo-suomen-sisu-is-an-extremist-group/”>Suomen Sisu association.

Migrant Tales has written before that you cannot keep racism on a short leash. Intolerance knows now master. It can bite back at its keeper and hard as we saw in Norway in July 2011.

 

 

Was PS MP James Hirvisaari bullied at school and in the army?

The most recent scandal to rock the Perussuomalaiset (PS) party is another sad chapter in the history of the right-wing populist party and for the same reason: racism. The culprits are now MP James Hirvisaari and Kai Haavisto, member of the party’s Uusimaa regional board. What’s wrong with these people?

How can anyone who can count to five with his fingers suggest in 2012 that chemical castration should be an option to deal with potential rape when permitting new refugees to live in Finland?  What kind of world does Hirvisaari live in if he thinks that gang rape in South Africa is a genetic trait and a national pastime?

With respect to Hirvisaari, one could ask if his instransigent hatred against Africans and Muslims is “normal.”

Probably behind Hirvisaari’s hatred lies a hurt man who was bullied at school and in the army.

I wonder what Hirvisaari would say if I’d ask him the following question: Were you bullied as a child and as an adult? Are you getting back at those that hurt you by bashing immigrants in the same way?

 

 

 

Anti-immigration sound-bite: Rape! Rape! RAPE!

I was surprised to read a blog post on Uusi Suomi by Kai Haavisto, a Perussuomalaiset (PS) politician from Espoo, who suggested that those groups that are prone to commit rape should be castrated chemically before being allowed to live in Finland. 

Haavisto is well-known for his racist views. One of his blog entries in September suggested that the ”refugee problem” to Finland could be stopped and solved by exporting rice to Africa.

While Haavisto’s views may surprise sensible people, the reaction to what he wrote is even more stunning. The response is no different to how lynch mobs reacted when they took the law in their hands.

Social-media lynch mobs are just as sinister. Their aim is not to lynch one person but whole groups shouting in a frenzy: Rape! Rape! RAPE!

PS MP James Hirvisaari, who was convicted for hate speech, turns into a political Mr. Hyde if you mention two words to him: immigrant rape. In this comment above, he said that the high amount of rape committed in South Africa was a genetic trait.

As everyone knows, rape is one of the pet subjects of anti-immigration and racist groups in Finland and elsewhere.

As Migrant Tales has written on a number of blogs , the whole immigrant-rape issue is a storm in a tea cup. This does not suggest that we play down rape or any crime.

Anti-immigration groups use rape statistics to “prove” that as soon as an immigrant or refugee from a certain part of the world enters Finland, he becomes a gang rapist.

Nowhere in Haavisto’s blog entry, where he suggests chemical castration, does he give us any figures about what are the volumes of suspected never mind sentenced rape convictions. He only assumes (when you assume you make an ass our of u and me) that rape is a pastime of the immigrant community.

Certainly Haavisto’s blog entry is racist and it was surprising that Uusi Suomi’s moderators took such a long time to ban it.

If one traveled back to goes to Nazi Germany, this is exactly the type of eugenics that was carried out against Jews and other minorities like the Roma and the mentally ill.

Sad but true.

 

 

Is Timo Soini losing his grip of the PS?

For those who haven’t noticed, Perussuomalaiset (PS) anti-immigration hardliners like MP Jussi Halla-aho and James Hirvisaari have tried to show their human side to the media. Halla-aho was recently interviewed with his wife Hilla on Me Naiset, while Hirvisaari writes on a blog entry hitherto-unheard empathy and understanding for his archenemy, the media.  

Some of Finland’s most notorious Counterjihadists are members of the PS. From (top right, left to right): Olli Immonen, James Hirvisaari, Matias Turkkila, Jussi Halla-aho, (second row) Juho Eerola, Freddy Van Wonterghem, Simon Elo, and Kai Haavikko.

Migrant Tales’ guest writer Jos Schuurmans wrote recently about Halla-aho’s interview on Me Naiset.

He wrote: “How is it possible that Sanoma, one of Finland’s largest, most professional and most respected media firms, gets away with publishing a cosy, three-page family portrait of far-right MP Jussi Halla-aho in its November 1, 2012, issue of Me Naiset, the mainstream human interest women’s magazine?”

The interview by Essi Myllyoja of the Halla-ahos is not only an insult to many immigrants and Finns, but shows how the media continues to be run by white Finns. By controlling the narrative, white Finns, or those that rule this country, ensure that what you hear and see are only the stories they want to be told.

If we are going to analyze why two of the PS’ most notorious Counterjihadists are trying to show a softer more human side of themselves, we’d have to study what is going on behind the scenes of chairman Timo Soini’s party.

Apparently there is a pretty serious fight for control of the party between Soini and Halla-aho. Halla-aho, who was convicted by the Supreme Court for defaming and inciting ethnic hatred in June, didn’t rule out the possibility on the Subin Enbuske & Linnanahde Crew TV show of challenging Soini for the party’s leadership.

The present situation within the PS is an outcome of the election blows it received after its historic victory in the April 2011 parliamentary elections. Since then it has been a rough downhill ride: Soini didn’t even make it to the second round of the presidential elections and the municipal elections of October were a clear disappointment.

Disgruntled by the situation and Soini’s leadership, Hirvisaari said recently that the party did poorly in the municipal elections because it wasn’t outspoken as before on immigration issues.

Taking into account that the PS’ anti-immigration candidates fared well in the municipal elections, it suggests that the undecided mainstream voters that gave their support for the party in 2011 have started to jump ship. What is remaining are the most loyal and radical elements, or those who vote for anti-immigration, anti-Islam, homophobic, and populist-conservative candidates.

Emboldened and scenting blood like a hungry pack of wolves, the Counterjihadists of the PS see this as an opportune moment to challenge Soini for the party’s leadership. They are determined to try again if they don’t succeed.

Halla-aho’s and Hirvisaari’s “tolerant” new look should be seen as a shameless ploy in league with many of the red herrings they have tried to feed the public.

 

 

 

MP Hirvisaari claims PS anti-immigration message not strong enough

Perussuomalaiset (PS) MP James (Erkki Kalevi) Hirvisaari claims that his party did poorly in the municipal elections because it wasn’t as outspoken on immigration issues as before the 2011 parliamentary elections, according to YLE. Migrant Tales disagrees. The PS did poorly in the municipal elections because of the crackpot stuff they say and do to gain attention, listeners or votes. 

Contrary to what Hirvisaari claims, the PS and his band of Counterjihadists tried very hard to raise immigration issues during the last municipal elections. See the long list of blog entries below that were published by Migrant Tales that show that Hirvisaari and other PS politicians tried to gain attention and votes by fueling anti-immigration, anti-Islam, anti-Roma and homophobic sentiment.

Moreover, the anti-immigration message of the PS sounds like a broken record at this stage. The more it plays, the more their lies and opportunism are exposed. The public, media and politicians are not eating out of their hands as they did before last year’s parliamentary elections.

Politicians like Hirvisaari in the PS, with his usual witch-hunt comments about Islam and immigrants, is one reason why the party has lost popularity and credibility with voters.

One of the PS MP’s many bizarre comments were made after Anders Brevik went on the rampage killing in cold blood 77 Norwegians on July 22, 2011.

On his Uusi Suomi blog he blamed “immigration policy” and “100% rape cases by foreigners [sic!]” for Norway’s worst tragedy after World War 2. “A sensible immigration policy could have lowered tensions and helped avoid many problems as well as the atrocity [in Norway],” he wrote. “And we still can. In Finland as well.”

Hirvisaari, who was convicted for hate speech in December, has not only lost touch with his party but with his constituents.

An interesting blog that follows far-right candidates in Finland’s municipal elections

I bumped into a blog called Kunnollisvaalit 2012 (in Finnish), which aims to expose far-right candidates running for office in the Finnish municipal elections of October 28.  The blog cites 11 Perussuomalaiset, 2 Center Party and one Muutos 2011 candidates as “far right.”

The blog aims to expose what these candidates are posting on the Internet.

Kunnollisvaalit 2012 considers far right the following groups: Suomen Sisu (Nazi-spirited association), Nuiva Manifesto (PS’ anti-immigration manifesto), Finnish Defense League (Counterjihadist), Suomen Kansalinen Vastarinata (neo-Nazi).

Remember Ulla Pyysalo, PS MP’s Juho Eerola’s aide, who was planning to join the neo-Nazi Suomen Kansalinen Vastarina? Well, she’s running for city council in Taipalsaari.

On a thread on Facebook with TU tennis, Ulla Pyysalo compared immigrants to animals and plants. ”Yes, transplanting animals or plants in a new environment has always ended in failure.”

Risto Helin is a “white power blood & honor” candidate for the PS  in Vaasa. 

Pyysalo continues, now comparing immigrants to racoon dogs.  ”I heard just recently that hunters are encouraged to kill these raccoon dogs,” she writes. ”God dang it how racist and terrible. Eeek help! :DDDDD,”

PS MP James Hirvisaari does it again

Remember when Perussuomalaiset (PS) MP James Hirvisaari commented on Hommaforum, the unofficial PS website that spreads intolerance against minorities in Finland, that homosexuality is “a disability in sexual development?” The police have brought the case to the state prosecutor, who will decide whether to bring charges against the PS MP, according to Helsingin Sanomat.

Criminal inspector Kari Kajala was quoted as saying on Helsingin Sanomat that Hirvisaari’s statement concerning homosexuality could fall under incitement of hatred against a group.

A colleague who has interviewed Hirvisaari, confirmed to Migrant Tales his Dr. Jekyll-Mr. Hyde political personality disorder.

“When you meet him [Hirvisaari] in person he seems well-behaved and reasonable,” he said. “When he’s on social media sites, however, he turns into a totally different person and loses control.”

For some, social media is like alcohol adiction. Taste one drop and you’re a gonner.

Hirvisaari was fined in December for inciting ethnic hatred.

 

Helena Eronen, the one that wrote about sleeve badges, resigns

Helena Eronen announced Monday on Uusi Suomi her resignation as Perussuomalaiset (PS) MP James Hirvisaari’s aide. Eronen suggested in a controversial  blog entry in April that foreigners should start wearing sleeve badges to help police hunt criminals.

Even if Eronen claimed that her controversial blog entry was satire and not intended to insult anyone, it did just the opposite.

There is some unconfirmed speculation that one factor behind Eronen’s resignation was an affair with Hirvisaari, which the latter’s wife wasn’t too happy about.

Hirvisaari got suspended for five months by the PS parliamentary group for not sacking his aide.

Even if Eronen isn’t a member of the PS, she used to advertise on Uusi Suomi as belonging to Muutos 2011, a far-right anti-immigration party.

While the PS has not said a word about Eronen’s resignation, it’s clear that the party is releived because she was a liability.

While the choice of hiring aides by some PS MPs raises some questions, Ulla Pyysalo is another aide that is still working at parliament after her name appeared on a Suomen Kansalinen Vastarinta (SKV) membership list. SKV is a neo-Nazi association.

How rape statistics reveal a serious problem: racism and prejudice

You know there is something fishy whenever any person starts to use percentages to drive home the point that immigrants are rapists. If anything, rape statistics do reveal a problem: racism and prejudice. 

One blogger on Uusi Suomi writes: ”In April, Finns were told that men from xxxx  are guilty of committing rape alarmingly often.” Using a tabloid story as a source, he states that in 2006-09 34% of all convicted rapes were by foreigners.

There are some serious problems with the conclusions of the tabloid never mind the writer:

  • How many foreigners were convicted of rape?
  • Are we speaking of an ”alarmingly high” amount?

In the Uusi Suomi blog entry, Perussuomalaiset (PS) MP James Hirvisaari, who was fined in December for inciting ethnic hatred, believes that 25 rape convictions during the first five months of the year is enough proof to close our borders.

Hirvisaari writes:  “We don’t need ‘free movement’ since it only brings too many problems and forms part of the left-wing agenda to undermine the nation-state.  ’Let’s do away with borders and mix different nationalities.’ Border control and immigration policy should be contrarily tightened.”

Here is some of Hirvisaari’s latest double-talk on his latest blog entry:  “Multiculturalism is a destroying politicial ideology, which does not fit in a [culturally] diverse society.”*

Yes, that’s right, such a comment was made by a Finnish MP based on 25 rape convictions during the first five months of the year!

If anything, rape statistics reveal a serious problem: a society’s racism and prejudice.

PS MP shows more ”tolerant” side to Helsingin Sanomat concerning homosexuality

Contrary to what James Hirvisaari commented on the Hommaforum website, the Perussuomalaiset (PS) MP gave a more “tolerant” view on Helsingin Sanomat concerning his statement that homosexuality is “a sexual developmental disability.”  

Hirvisaari said that even a disabled people like homosexuals need to accept themselves for what they are, he emphasized that  homosexuality or disability does not erase human dignity. He said that his comments were not intended to incite hatred against homosexuals.

Outi Hannula, the chairwoman of the Finnish gay rights organization SETA, didn’t buy everything that the PS MP said.

“In what day does seeing homosexuality as a developmental disability differ from labelling it as an illness?” she said. “It seems that this is an attempt to label a person as deviant and unnatural.”

One of the questions that the whole affair raises is why bring up the topic in the first place.

The only sensible answer to that question is that Hirvisaari is trying to raise support and public visibility for the PS, which has seen its poll standings take a hit.

Finland will hold municipal elections in October.
